The Lonely Student in the Class

Hi everyone,
I want to share a point in our class. There is a student in the class who never participates in the lessons, does homework and listen to the lesson. I asked our mentor teacher about him and she said that he is so uninterested in the lessons and his parent do not deal with him. In addition, the teacher does not try to make him participate, either. I do not know what should she do. Maybe you can help us about him. I look for your suggestions.

If the teacher is not so interested in to be able to deal with his/her own student, then I think it is your job and it is the very time to do something. You can talk to the student about his/her tasks and make encouraging comments on them. Or you may try to catch the very thing s/he really does very well and work on it together with the student.

Dear Burhan,

From some years of classroom practice and observation, I think the best approach for this student is to understand what drives him, what really interests him and explore his potential in whatever he's good at. We all have something that motivates us, that we like doing, so if you see a little spark in the student's eyes, there's your chance to connect.
